What to do in Ottawa: April 6-13

Saturday, April 6 (Today!)

Rideau Speedeaus Swim-EAU-thon
8:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Piscine Pelletier, 325 Chemin d’Aylmer
Third annual fundraising event for Rideau Speedeau swim club’s community partners, PTS and le Bureau regional d’action SIDA (BRAS). Free.

Ottawa Frontrunners Saturday morning run
9:00 AM 11:30 AM: Lisgar entrance of city hall / Dantessa
Meet the LGBT running group every Saturday morning for a 5, 7 or 9 km run followed by breakfast at Dantessa.

Women’s Badminton
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Jack Purcell Community Centre
Join the women of the lesbian outdoor group for weekly games of badminton. Birdies are provided, but please bring non-sole marking shoes and a raquet. $5 drop-in fee.

Keint-he Winery & Vineyards Wine Event
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM: After Stonewall, 370 Bank Street
Sample wines from the Prince Edward County winery, and order bottles. RSVP to After Stonewall.

Soirée Communauté Mixte(Gais+Lesbiennes)
9:00 PM – 12:00 AM: Légion Royale Canadienne, 231 Blvd Maloney Ouest, Gatineau
Mixed social dance in Gatineau. Shamane & Alex, DJ Luc Lecompte perform. Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Swim-EAU-thon after party
9:30 PM – 12:00 AM: FarmTeam Cookhouse & Bar, 683 Bank street
Celebrating the annual fundraising event by the Rideau Speedeaus swim team. DJ Rsquared spins. Suggested donation: $10-$20

Sugar Shack Outing

Join the Ottawa Frontrunners for a trip to the sugar shack! Menu $6 and up.

Gay Ottawa Volleyball: Drills ‘n Skills
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: University of Ottawa Montpetit Hall, 125 University Drive
Practice your volleyball skills with GOV – Ottawa’s gay volleyball league. $5 early registration at dleblan5@gmail.com, $10 at the door.

Monday, April 8

LGBT Seniors Bowling
6:30 PM – 7:00 PM: West Park Bowling, 1205 Wellington Street
Join members of the Ottawa Senior Pride Network for a night of bowling! 50+. $3 per game.

Tuesday, April 9

Ottawa Frontrunners evening run
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM: City Hall Lisgar Entrance, 111 Lisgar Street
Join Ottawa’s lgbt running group for weekly 5, 7 or 10 km evening runs followed by coffee. Free

Qball softball registration for the 2013 season

Join Qball, Ottawa’s GLBT Softball league this season. Mixed league. Registration fee $100

Wednesday, April 10

8th Annual JersVision.org & Day of Pink Gala
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Government Conference Centre, 2 Rideau Street
Anti-bullying conference with Rt. Hon. Michaelle Jean, Jian Ghomeshi, Stephanie La Rochelle, Mark Tewksbury and others performing. Free. RSVP to RSVP@JersVision.org for seating.

Rideau Speedeaus swim/natation
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: University of Ottawa, Montpetit Hall, 125 Université Privée
Rideau Speedeaus swim team meets for swim practice. Prices vary.

Occupy Love: Ottawa Screening and Panel Discussion

Film screening of Occupy Love followed by a panel discussion featuring Clayton Thomas-Muller of the Indigenous Environmental Network and Ben Powless, member of Occupy Ottawa

Shout Sister! West

Choral singing that focuses on women relaxing and having fun singing. No audition required. Free.

Tone Cluster: The Seventh Annual Show Tune Showdown
8:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Ottawa Little Theatre, 400 King Edward Avenue
Summon your inner Broadway diva! Tone Cluster, a queer choir, will hold a Broadway-musical-themed concert and a friendly showtune competition which will include audience participation. $25 advance at ticketweb.ca
